WIP Update #2: Chapter 1 Scene 2 (WC = 2678)

The next scene in Lords of Torementhias, takes place in a pocket dimension known to the Guardians as The Simerian Vale. It is a paralell dimension adjascent to the Maelinthian, the mortal realm. The dimension exists as an ever present potential place for the Edarians to attack the mortals without the risk of burning that they would experience in the mortal realm. However, as the Vale exists alongside the entire Maelinthian, it is impossible to predict where the Edarians will strike.

Following the defeat and banishment of Nethriziin at the Battle of Tarlock, reality fractured from the strain of his highly concentrated Torementhicite imprint. This caused the barriers between the Vale and the other dimensions to weaken, a flaw that the Edarians now use to easily enter the Vale. Furthermore, the causeway to the Obsidious was destroyed when Rezaaran returned with Ashana from the Obsidious. This prevents the Guardians from marching into the Obsidious as their predecessors did to quell the Edarian uprising.

As a result the Guardians are left to monitor the Augura Nexus and watch for magical disturbances that imply an Edarian attack from the Vale. At the first sign of attack they immediately dispatch a response team while others remain at the Sanctum in case there is a double strike underway.

During scene 2, the reader is also introduced to a few of the Guardians who are returning members of the previous stories. Rezaaran makes his appearance at the battle and his entry is heralded by terror from the Edarians for he is the one that defeated their master.

The selection of music and the early action sequence really made this a fun scene to write.

Below is the week's moodboard that helped me build this scene.
